Magnetic Midnight - Mica Watercolor Paint

Magnetic Midnight is a deep, shimmery, true blue color. It's great for painting night skies or distant silhouettes in landscapes. Magnetic Midnight looks good on both white and black watercolor papers, but it really pops on black.

DETAILS

Ingredients: Mica (fluorphlogopite, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, ferric ferrocyanide [Prussian Blue]), distilled water, gum arabic, vegetable glycerin, & clove leaf oil.

Lightfastness: Ferric ferrocyanide, also known as Prussian Blue, fades when exposed to light as a watercolor paint. How much and how fast it fades depends on many factors. I highly recommend performing a lightfastness test if you need to be certain how this, or any, paint will perform. All the other pigments in Magnetic Midnight have excellent lightfastness.

Sizes: 
-Quarter pan (~1 mL, 0.74x0.59x0.2 in.)
-Half pan (~2 mL, 0.74x0.62x0.35 in.)

Notes: Magnetic Midnight is NOT a magnetic paint. "Magnetic" is just part of its name, not a description of its properties.

Small air bubbles are totally normal in handmade watercolors. I overfill my pans to offset this.

Each pan has the paint's name written on the side. Individual pans don't come with magnets.

Mica paints are notoriously difficult to photograph, but I try to capture each color as accurately as possible. Colors may vary slightly depending on your screen settings.

Magnetic Midnight is named for the time of day when one of Earth's magnetic poles aligns with the sun and an observer on Earth. Magnetic midnight is when auroras are most visible.

SAFETY

My mica paints are nontoxic when used as intended, as an artist paint. They are not formulated for and have not been tested for any other purpose.

Watercolor pans are a choking hazard (and the colors/wrappers can make them look like candy), so keep them out of reach of young children and pets.
