Bear Oak is a dark, shimmery, chocolate brown. It has a blackish-brown undertone and copper shimmer. Bear Oak is perfect for painting all kinds of flora and fauna-- tree bark, acorns, pinecones, bird feathers... sparkly squirrels and groundhogs?
DETAILS
Ingredients: Mica (mica, iron oxide, titanium dioxide), distilled water, gum arabic, vegetable glycerin, & clove leaf oil.
Lightfastness: All of the pigments in Bear Oak have excellent lightfastness. I would not expect any fading, but I always recommend testing for lightfastness if you need to be certain of how a paint will perform.
Sizes:
-Quarter pan (~1 mL, 0.74x0.59x0.2 in.)
-Half pan (~2 mL, 0.74x0.62x0.35 in.)
Notes: Small air bubbles are totally normal in handmade watercolors. I overfill my pans to offset this.
Each pan has the paint's name written on the side. Individual pans don't come with magnets.
Mica paints are notoriously difficult to photograph, but I try to capture each color as accurately as possible. Colors may vary slightly depending on your screen settings.
Bear Oak is named for the tree species Quercus ilicifolia, which is native to southern Maine and parts of the US east coast.
SAFETY
My mica paints are nontoxic when used as intended, as an artist paint. They are not formulated and have not been tested for any other use.
Watercolor pans are a choking hazard (and the colors/wrappers can make them look like candy), so keep them out of reach of young children and pets.
