Backyard Birds - Set of 6 Watercolors

Backyard Birds is a set of six handmade, mica watercolors inspired by the colors and iridescence of local birds. It's available in quarter pans and half pans.

Each Backyard Birds palette includes:
- Cardinal, a bright red
- Goldfinch, a rich golden yellow
- Blue Jay, a royal blue
- Hummingbird, an interference green
- Chickadee, a dark pewter gray
- Grackle, an interference purple

Each pan has a magnet on the bottom. Each set of 6 comes in a black, metal tin and includes a small swatch card of watercolor paper that fits in the inside of the lid.

DETAILS

Ingredients: Micas, distilled water, gum arabic, vegetable glycerin, and clove leaf oil.

Lightfastness: All the pigments used to color the micas in this collection have excellent lightfastness ratings. I would not expect any fading, but I always recommend testing for lightfastness if you need to be certain of how a paint will perform.

Sizes: 
-Quarter pan (~1 mL, 0.74x0.59x0.2 in.)
-Half pan (~2 mL, 0.74x0.62x0.35 in.)

Notes: Small air bubbles are totally normal in handmade watercolors. I overfill my pans to offset this.

Mica paints are notoriously difficult to photograph, but I try to capture each color as accurately as possible. Colors may vary slightly depending on your screen settings.

INSTRUCTIONS

To use, put a couple of drops of water on top of the dry paints and let the paints soften for 1-2 minutes. They should be ready to go!

Let your paints dry uncovered before you put them away.

SAFETY

My mica paints are nontoxic when used as intended, as an artist paint. They have not been formulated or tested for any other purpose.

Watercolor pans are small and colorful, making them a potential choking hazard. Be sure to keep them out of reach of young children or pets.
